Catalyst Science Discovery Centre

After establishing itself in the early 90’s as one of the North West’s leading award winning science discovery centres, it was recognised that Catalyst needed to rejuvenate its image and improve its displays and facilities. That task, was awarded to RFA, the design arm of Dyson’s who re-designed the interior spaces and also Catalyst’s graphic identity. The £400K phase 1 began with the fit-out of a Virtual Theatre, Careers Showcase and state of the art Discovery Laboratory featuring workstations incorporating imaginative corian worktops. Future phases will include front of house facilities, hands-on galleries and an observatory with panoramic views over the River Mersey.

Homestyle Group

Dyson’s experience of fast track roll-out work and reputation for strict adherence to schedule has resulted in an extensive programme of refit and refurbishment for Homestyle Group companies, Sleepmasters, Benson Beds, Bed Shed and Factory Shack.

As at September 2006, over 50 stores have been brought on line this year with contracts ranging from £10 to 15 K to a major fit out of £100K. Typical works involve joinery manufacture and installation of pelmets and bed deviders, flooring, electrical and decorations.

Coventry Transport Museum - Motorcycle Gallery

RFA were appointed to design and build the new gallery with exhibits selected from the Museum’s collection of over 100 British machines, many of which were made locally by manufacturers such as Triumph, Rudge and Francis Barnett.

The brief required the gallery must be object led with as many motorcycles on display as possible, some featured as ‘centre pieces’ and others in open storage with limited interpretation. RFA’s design utilised light and movement from a central source onto and above displays that radiate out to a “wall of death”. The densely displayed open storage areas features a specially designed modular, racking system allowing machines to be displayed double height.
